The Bradetich Foundation International Double Bass Solo Competition

The Bradetich Foundation's 2nd International Double Bass Solo Competition will be held from 1 - 5 Sep 2017. This event will be hosted by the University of North Texas College of Music, in Denton, Texas, USA.

The finest solo performers in the world are invited to compete for the most generous award in double bass history with a first prize value at more than USD30 000.

Double bassists and lovers of music for the double bass will find this concert an interesting one as this historic concert by the Australian World Orchestra for its 2016 Singapore tour will feature the international premiere of the Australian World Orchestra's new commissioned concerto by acclaimed Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin titled The Witching Hour. This concerto for eight double basses is a first in orchestral music history and has been composed specifically to showcase the outstanding double bass section of the Australian World Orchestra.
